Peanut Butter and Jam Smoothie

Peanut Butter & Jam Smoothie

This Peanut Butter and Jam Smoothie gets its flavour from real whole food ingredients like fresh berries, banana, spinach and nut butter without sacrificing the classic flavour we all loved as kids. Using real whole food’s add in vitamins, minerals, and fibre to something that is like a treat from your childhood.

To achieve that classic peanut butter and jam flavour we love using a combination of strawberries, blueberries and raspberries in this recipe but you can feel free to use whatever you have on hand at the time. Blackberries are also a really nice addition to this recipe but we recommend switching them out for the raspberries as having both can sometimes make this smoothie a little more on the tart side. If you are looking to save time and money invest in a bag of mixed frozen berries and swap out the individual berry measurements with one cup total of the frozen berries.

This recipe calls for protein powder of choice but if you don’t have any, you can add a mix of hemp, chia, pumpkin seed, and flax seeds to add a little protein, healthy fat, and fibre boost naturally. If you don’t have all three seed types you can just add one or two of them to help bulk it up a little bit. If you are going to use a protein powder we do recommend that you use a neutral flavour like vanilla or go with an unflavoured one as anything else may change the final flavour of the smoothie.

We love making smoothies for a quick breakfast or snack on the go. They are nutritionists’ best friend and our version of fast food! To make them even faster we recommend prepping all your ingredients (except your liquid) ahead of time and portioning a few servings out into individual two cup mason jars or ziplock bags and tossing them in the freezer. That way when you are pressed for time all you have to do is add the container’s ingredients into your blender, add your liquid ingredients, pour into a cup and run out the door!
